Birth of a Goddess

I was trying to get this in before midnight... Anywayz, Happy Valentine's Day !!!

This is Aphrodite/Venus, the goddess of love. She is the first of a series of the 12 Olympian Gods. I've always been fascinated by Greek Mythology so I thought I should create my own interpretations of the gods.

For those of you who don't know the story, it is said Aphrodite was born from the sea when Uranus (the father of the gods) was castrated by his son Cronus. Cronus threw the severed genitals into the ocean which began to churn and foam about them. From the aphros ("sea foam") arose Aphrodite, and the sea carried her to either Cyprus or Cythera.
